Biography

Toronto based multidisciplinary artist, Antonio Arraut Rincones is a native of Barranquilla, Colombia. Originally a Civil Engineer practitioner, Antonio returned to his artistic passion after a pivotal time in his life. Since 2017, art has been a tool to heal emotionally and now he wants to share his experience for the benefit of others.

In 2020, he won the prize "Estimulos", from the mayor's office of the city of Barranquilla in the category of new writers. The prize allowed him to publish his first book "Once upon a time in the Magdalena Grande", a short novel full of folklore and adventure set in the late 20s in the Colombian Caribbean. 


In 2021 he graduated from the Distrital School of Arts of Barranquilla, in the program of Academic Knowledge in Artistic Drawing. That year also, he conducted the workshop "Creative and Therapeutic Writing" for the employees of a major public service company in Colombia. The attendees could manage their emotions, and improve their physical and mental health through writing exercises.


In 2021 he presented the work "Antithesis" in the Artists' Salon of the District School of Art of Barranquilla. An approach to beauty away from the established canon. The work aimed to draw attention to morbid obesity and the risks of social networks.


Currently, he is attending the program Art Education and Community Engagement at Centennial College in the city of Toronto to develop a career in the domain of art and education.

He is currently working on a second book, an anthology of short stories set in the Colombian Caribbean.
